The Three Practices

The Intelligence of Emotion

Use this practice to gain insight from your emotions.

When you are experiencing an emotion, try this practice based on the research of Dr. Susan David.

  1. Recognize and label the thoughts and emotions

  2. Accept rather than dismiss them. Examine them.

  3. Align back to what matters to you to inform what action you want to take

The Intelligence of the Body

Use this practice to gain insight from your body.  A way to tap into your body as a compass is to do a body scan.

  • Find a comfortable position lying down or seated and close your eyes.

  • Take a few deep breaths, and then focus your attention on the top of your head.

  • Notice any sensations you feel, such as warmth or tingling, and then move your focus down to the next part of your body, such as your face or neck.

  • Continue this process, slowly moving your focus down through each part of your body until you reach your toes. As you do this, try to let go of any thoughts or distractions and simply be present with your body.

  • See what you notice. Perhaps spend 5 minutes journaling.

The Intelligence of the Mind

Use this practice to gain insight from your intuitive mind. Mozart famously talked about his music coming as a whole, an intuitive download if you will. “Whence and how they come, I know not, nor can I force them.”

A 5 minute practice to you start your day.

  1. Get a pen and paper

  2. Without judging or second guessing, ask your intuition: What would you like me to know?

  3. Let the thoughts flow onto the paper without censoring.

  4. When done, read through the comments and look for clues about something you might want to do or watch for as you go through your day.
